Wendt Named Omtvedt Award Recipient

Charlene WendtCharlene Wendt, who retired as office supervisor for the Department of Agronomy and Horticulture, is named a 2014 Omtvedt Innovation Servant Leader Award recipient.

In her 30 years with the department, Wendt has served seven department heads. Her  professionalism, efficiency and welcoming attitude was appreciated by faculty, staff, students and visitors. Known throughout IANR for her competence, can-do attitude and cheerful smile, Wendt also is known for professionally maintaining confidentiality.  Wendt also is known as considerate, helpful, positive, loyal, knowledgeable, trusted and generous.

“Her retirement will leave a severe competency/institutional memory void in the system … While the verbiage ‘everyone is replaceable’ is often voiced when an employee leaves a position, Charlene represents an extremely rare exception,” her nominator wrote.

Wendt will receive a plaque and cash award during an April 30, 2014, reception.
