Some lucky kids got tricks and treats with a little horsing around. The Nebraska Equestrian Team hosted its annual “Boo at the U” event on the University of Nebraska–Lincoln’s East Campus Oct. 29. Kids got to tour the Husker barn, pet a lot of animals and go trick-or-treating with real live horses.
Nicole Dubas, an animal science and pre-veterinary medicine major, said the event had to pause due to COVID-19 pandemic but relaunched a couple of years ago. This year, costumes for both horses and members of the equestrian team ranged from "Harry Potter" to "101 Dalmatians."
"All the little kids have such a fun time. A lot of them have never been around horses before, so it's always fun to see them pet them," Dubas said.
The event allowed kids to interact with many different animals, including smaller ones like goats and sheep.
