David Lott, a longtime Nebraska Extension educator, has received the Distinguished Service Award from the National Association of County Agricultural Agents (NACAA). He was recognized July 1 during the association’s 2025 Annual Meeting and Professional Improvement Conference in Billings, Montana.
The Distinguished Service Award honors NACAA members with at least 10 years of service who are held in high esteem by their colleagues and have demonstrated an outstanding Extension program. Only the top two percent of members are selected for the award each year.
Lott, who has lived in North Platte since 2010, has been a NACAA member for 23 years. Throughout his career, he has secured more than $225,000 in grant funding for vegetable research and has authored 11 University of Nebraska Extension NebGuides, a peer-reviewed journal article, and delivered 14 regional and national Extension presentations. His outreach efforts have reached more than 1.3 million people through mass and social media.
His programs have also contributed to the conservation of 904,538 gallons of water and reduced pesticide use by 21,889 pounds. In addition to his Extension work, Lott has served as president of both the Nebraska Cooperative Extension Association and the Nebraska chapter of Epsilon Sigma Phi, a national Extension professional organization.
