About Luan

I'm originally from Brazil. I’ve been living in the United States for the past two years. I have a bachelor's degree in agronomy engineering, and my master’s and doctorate degrees had an emphasis on agricultural machinery and precision agriculture.

What is your position at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln?

I'm the new assistant Nebraska Extension educator in Burt, Thurston and Dakota Counties.

What drew you to the University of Nebraska-Lincoln?

UNL is one of the best universities in the world when it comes to agriculture. Being an Extension educator here will be a great opportunity to exchange knowledge with the university specialists and farming community.

What aspect of working in an educational setting do you enjoy the most?

As I mentioned before, knowledge exchange is one of the best things we can have working in an educational setting.

What do you consider your greatest achievement?

Being a father! My wife Karoll is pregnant now and we are waiting for our first child, Oliver. That is my greatest achievement so far.

What is something that most people don’t know about you?

I used to have a country band during college, and I was the singer.

What is your life like outside of work?

I'm just a family person. When I get out of work, I try to call my parents, my sisters and my friends back in Brazil. During weekends, playing guitar, barbecue and video games are mandatory.
