Fagan receives Inspire Women's Leadership, Excellence in Education award

Helen Fagan has received the Inspire Women’s Leadership, Excellence in Education award.

Lincoln, Neb. —Helen Fagan has received the Inspire Women’s Leadership, Excellence in Education award. 

Fagan is a leadership, diversity, and inclusion scholar and practitioner, as well as coordinator for the Rural Fellows program at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. Her research focuses on intercultural mindset development of leaders, healthcare practitioners and educators, inclusive community leadership development and executive coaching, and inclusive leadership development

Fagan founded Global Leadership Group, which provides consulting and leadership coaching to organizations, communities, and executives in the field of diversity, inclusion, and leadership. She has also worked as a faculty member for the past five years with the Qatar Institute for Intercultural Communication. There, she provides workshops for faculty and students working at six United States universities in Education City in Qatar

Fagan accepted the Excellence in Education award at the sixth annual Inspire – Celebrating Women’s Leadership Awards ceremony, which took place Sept. 16 at the Embassy Suites in Lincoln. The Inspire Awards are presented by the Lincoln Journal Star in partnership with the University of Nebraska and Union Bank & Trust

“Getting an award like this challenges me to live up to the ideals of the award,” Fagan said. “I consider myself living up to the ideals when I’ve provided the inspiration and education for students to become inclusive leaders in their workplace and community.”
