Plautz named recipient of Outstanding Employee Award

Sarah Plautz, research technician in the Biological Systems Engineering Department, has been named a recipient of the 2015 Fourth Quarter Outstanding Employee Award from the Institute of Agriculture and Natural Resources.

In her day-to-day role Plautz performs research on gene delivery and tissue engineering. She designs experiments, implements experimental plans, collects data and develops procedures to test hypotheses. In addition to providing general lab management, Plautz also mentors and directs efforts of graduate and undergraduate students.

Plautz has assisted Angela Pannier, biomedical engineer and associate professor build an extensive research program, that currently boasts over 10 different research projects.

Supporters wrote that Plautz’s intelligence, creativity, management skills and mentoring abilities make her invaluable to research programs and the Biological Systems Engineering Department.

Plautz will receive a cash award, a certificate and lapel pin.
