Southeast Nebraska diversified ag tour Sept. 9

Lincoln, Neb. — The 2016 Southeast Nebraska Diversified Ag Tour will be Sept. 9. This is the eleventh year Nebraska Extension has organized the tour to highlight diversified and sustainable agricultural operations in the area.

This year’s tour will include five stops: Dunn Greenery, a small local greenhouse in Falls City offering a variety of flowers and vegetables grown on site; Grimm’s Gardens, a diversified business in Hiawatha, Kansas that includes a greenhouse and nursery, U-pick patches, and landscape design services; Lunch at Schilling Bridge Winery and Microbrewery, the nation’s first farm winery/microbrewery combination located in Pawnee City; Plum Creek Farms near Burchard, a small, family owned and operated farm raising the highest quality farm fresh chicken available; and Big Blue Ranch & Lodge near Burchard, a working cattle ranch and agro/ecotourism destination.

The tour will pick up participants in Hickman at 6:30 am in the parking lot north of the Subway (18780 S. 68th Street), in Tecumseh at 7:30 am on the north side of the courthouse (351 Broadway), and in Auburn at 8:00 am on the north side of the courthouse (1824 N Street).

The cost to attend is $20 per person and includes lunch and transportation. To register contact the Nemaha County Extension Office (402-274-4755) by Aug. 31.
