What is your position at the University of Nebraska—Lincoln?

Office Associate, Office of Vice Pres/Vice Chancellor

What drew you to the University of Nebraska—Lincoln?

After teaching 5th and 6th-grade instrumental music in Lincoln Public Schools, I retired in May of 2018.  After cleaning every nook and cranny of our home, it was time for me to pursue a new opportunity. Being part of the support staff at the Institute of Agriculture and Natural Resources provides a fantastic opportunity to be part of a team in an office setting.

What aspect of working in an educational setting do you enjoy the most?

The aspect I enjoy most is being able to transfer, improve, and expand my technology and organizational skills.

What do you consider your greatest achievement?

A 35-year marriage with the most supportive husband anyone could be blessed to share a life with, and raising two successful, independent daughters while balancing dual careers (public education and military).

What is something that most people don't know about you?

I am a member of the 35th Infantry Division Band of the Kansas Army National Guard. I am on duty 39 days per year where my responsibilities include advising, mentoring, and playing clarinet. I also have a national position where I am one of two Sergeants Major who work on behalf of our 51 Army National Guard Bands throughout the U.S. and its territories. That position requires work as an advocate and liaison between soldiers and the U.S. Army School of Music, the U.S. Army Soldier Support Institute, and National Guard Bureau shaping doctrine and training requirements for Army bandsmen.  Additionally, I am a member of an Operational Readiness Evaluation team that assesses every Army National Guard Band on a five-year cycle measuring effectiveness and capacities. For that position, I am on duty an additional 60 days per year.

What is your life like outside of work?

My husband and I enjoy time with family, cooking, camping, leisurely walks, and off-roading activities. We have two adult daughters who live in the Omaha area and two dogs, Zoey and Cali.
