Why did you decide to come to the University of Nebraska-Lincoln?

I never considered going anywhere else for college really. I've known since I was a freshman in high school that I wanted to be a veterinarian so when it came to choosing an animal science program, UNL was my first choice. I also grew up on Husker football and attending games with my grandpa as a child and I knew that I wanted to be a part of that tradition as well.

What is your favorite thing about University of Nebraska-Lincoln?

My favorite thing about UNL is the sense of community on campus. Whether you are on East Campus, City Campus, or Innovation Campus, UNL and its students do a great job of making a university feel a lot smaller and more like home.

How has diversity and inclusive excellence played a role in your CASNR experience?

Diversity and inclusion play a large role at CASNR, such an emphasis has allowed me to meet and collaborate with students not only from around the country, but from around the world. The biggest way this has impacted me is in changing how I problem-solve. As I continue to meet new people from different backgrounds, I continue to look at problems differently and face them from different angles.

What is your favorite class you have taken so far and why?

My favorite class so far was ASCI 100 with Dr. Reiling. While this is a mainly freshman class, Dr. Reiling's enthusiasm makes it a great experience. It also is a great first step into animal science education.

What are your plans post-graduation?

After I graduate from UNL I plan to attend vet school at either Kansas State or Iowa State, then I would like to return to rural Nebraska and practice in a small and large animal clinic.

What’s life like outside of school?

When I'm not in school you can either find me at work or with my friends. I work at a veterinary clinic here in Lincoln in order to gain more experience prior to vet school. I also enjoy spending time outside doing things like camping, fishing, and hiking.
