Why did you decide to come to the University of Nebraska–Lincoln?

All three of my older siblings received their degrees from Nebraska. While attending, they always raved about the fantastic individuals they met through the school and faculty. During my first experience as a prospective student to Nebraska, I was blown away by how welcoming everyone was. Nebraska felt like the right place for me instantly, and I knew it was the only school I wanted to attend. As my time as a student is coming to an end, I’ll miss the people the most. The faculty and friends I have met will truly last a lifetime.

What is your favorite thing about the University of Nebraska–Lincoln?

My favorite thing about the University of Nebraska-Lincoln would have to be the different opportunities I have been able to take advantage of. The partnership between the University of Nebraska-Lincoln and the Nebraska Bankers Association (NBA) is one of the best things this university has to offer. Throughout my time as an intern, I have gained strong mentors and have developed professionally. My internships have given me hands-on experience in the banking industry that has taught me that I want to pursue banking as a career.

How has diversity and inclusive excellence played a role in your CASNR experience?

My CASNR experience has given me opportunities to engage and learn from people of different backgrounds and experiences. It's helped me to learn more about the world around me, and more about myself.

What is your favorite class you have taken so far and why?

My favorite class would have to be Agricultural Finance (AECN 452) with Professor Stokes. This class combines two of my favorite things: agriculture and finance topics. Professor Stokes did a great job of presenting the material in an easy to understand way, but the course still challenged me.

What are your plans post-graduation?

After graduation, I will stay on with Security First Bank at one of their bank locations. I am really looking forward to growing in the banking profession with them!

What’s life like outside of school?

When I am not going to class, you can find me serving as a CASNR Ambassador, where I get to share my experiences and passions about the university with prospective students on campus tours. If I’m not there, you can then find me at Security First Bank learning more about commercial lending. Finally, if I am not at either of those locations, you can find me at Husker sporting events, golfing, or hanging out with family and friends.

Colin is also a recipient of the Susan Buffet Scholarship, G&M Plucknett Scholarship, and the Nebraska Bankers Association Scholarship.
