Angela Pannier elected to 2022 Class of the AIMBE College of Fellows

The American Institute for Medical and Biological Engineering (AIMBE) has announced the election of Angela Pannier, Swarts Family Chair of Biological Systems Engineering and Professor at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, to its College of Fellows.

Lincoln, Neb. — The American Institute for Medical and Biological Engineering (AIMBE) has announced the election of Angela Pannier, Swarts Family Chair of Biological Systems Engineering and Professor at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, to its College of Fellows. Pannier was nominated, reviewed and elected by peers and members of the AIMBE College of Fellows for her outstanding contributions to understanding and engineering biomaterials and cellular systems for applications in gene therapy, tissue engineering and vaccination.

The College of Fellows is comprised of the top 2% of medical and biological engineers in the country, including accomplished and distinguished engineering and medical school chairs, research directors, professors, innovators and successful entrepreneurs. Fellows are recognized for their contributions to teaching, research and innovation. They are committed to giving back to the fields of medical and biological engineering through advocacy efforts and public policy initiatives that benefit the scientific community, as well as society at large.

Pannier’s research focuses on DNA vaccines, tissue engineering for developmental biology models, and non-viral gene delivery systems for stem cell and medical device applications. Her work — as well as the work of her students — has attracted national and worldwide attention.

A formal induction ceremony will be held during AIMBE’s 2022 Annual Event on March 25. Pannier will be inducted along with 152 colleagues who make up the AIMBE Fellow Class of 2022.
