During the week of Feb. 9-13, 2026, the Research Partnerships unit of the University Libraries invites members of the campus community to celebrate the fifth anniversary of the Dinsdale Family Learning Commons on East Campus by participating in a scavenger hunt in the Commons and attending the reception at the end of the week.
The scavenger hunt includes posters in the building that highlight statistics and other information about the services, collections and expertise of the faculty and staff in the libraries. Participants will have a leg-up on other researchers and learners, as they uncover more of the ways that the libraries team can support their needs.
Those who find all eight posters and scan the QR code on each will receive a library notebook and will be entered in a drawing for University Libraries hoodies. The winners will be announced during the reception Friday, Feb. 13, 12:30 p.m. to 3 p.m. CT. You don’t have to be present to win. No need to register to attend. Cake, snacks and Libraries swag will be available.
Other activities in support of Dinsdale Family Learning Commons and Love Data Week include workshops offered by faculty in Research Partnerships. The celebrations kick off at noon, Feb. 9 with the workshop Crash Course in Research Data Management in the Stock Seed Farms Classroom.
Registration required.
The Dinsdale Family Learning Commons opened on Jan. 27, 2021, after a privately funded renovation. The University Libraries stewards the space, which honors the C.Y. Thompson library of the past, as well as the history of East Campus. The space includes group and individual study spaces, the Kimmel Foundation community room, flexible teaching spaces for the Libraries and partners, and selected book collections. Partners include the Engler Agribusiness Entrepreneurship Program, which occupies two-thirds of the second floor, and Information Technology Services. Natural light is a signature of the East Campus Learning Commons.
