Nebraska Livestock Judging Team wraps up strong spring under new coach

The University of Nebraska–Lincoln Livestock Judging Team wrapped up its spring semester with several notable performances under the leadership of new head coach Cal Schultz.

Caden Schwab of Fort Collins, Colorado, earned multiple top placements, including third in the swine division at the National Western Stock Show, first in the reasons division at the Heart City Bull Bash, and ninth overall at the Nebraska Cattlemen’s Classic.

Kirsten Heselmeyer of Taylor, Texas, also had a strong showing this spring. She placed seventh overall at the National Western Stock Show, claimed top honors in the feedlot division at the Nebraska Cattlemen’s Classic, and finished in the top 20 at the Iowa Beef Expo, Heart City Bull Bash, and Nebraska Cattlemen’s Classic.

Dalton Williams of Grantsville, Utah, who is new to livestock judging, demonstrated strong potential throughout the season. He earned a placing division award at Heart City and was recognized multiple times as the team’s top card marker.

The team celebrated numerous highlights during the spring semester and is preparing for a competitive fall season, including national championship events.
