Why did you decide to come to the University of Nebraska Lincoln?

Surprisingly, not for the football.

I was asked my senior year, "Why is Nebraska a great location for agriculture?" I realized then that I wanted to capitalize on being a Nebraska resident while I learn and work in agriculture. I looked for an influential agriculture school that offered a city experience hoping to get out of my comfort zone. UNL was the perfect fit for both of those things!

What is your favorite thing about attending the University of Nebraska Lincoln?

My favorite part about Lincoln in general is that things are open past 10pm and they're 5 minutes away!  I can get gas, ice cream, groceries, almost anything at any time of the night. Coming from a small town, that is the coolest thing to me! In terms of the university, my favorite part is CASNR and East Campus! This community is such a welcoming place to grow as students and emerging leaders in the agriculture industry.  We get the best of both worlds with great professors in the classrooms and a plethora of jobs & internships available to us!

What is your favorite class you have taken so far and why?

AECN 201 and 301 are both intriguing and challenging courses. I've always liked accounting and these classes highlight accounting plus the farm! I've been able to apply the material realistically to my family farm and that helps me understand the course better.

What are your plans post-graduation?

I have intentions of working around Lincoln for some years before returning home to my family farm. With my banking and finance option, I plan to work in agricultural lending, financial advising, sales or something similar.

Whats life like outside of school?

I recently welcomed a Corgi into my life! She's liking the apartment and city life, but loves the farm with cats and cows so we make trips home often. I'm an officer for a few clubs on campus and spend lots of time planning events and working with members. I'm an ag sales intern at Sandhills Publishing in the TractorHouse publication and enjoy working there!
