Bowder receives OEA

Wanda Bowder, administrative assistant for the Department of Food Science and Technology, on March 8 received Outstanding Employee Award for the first quarter 2013 for going above and beyond job responsibilities.

Since 2007 Bowder has managed the main office, supervised support staff and overseen clerical activities for the Food Processing Center. Nominators write Bowder is cheerful, calm, dependable, quick-thinking, economical, unwavering in professionalism and efficiency, and “always follows up on requests.” 

Comments include Bowder is an approachable supervisor who ensures her staff has the right tools to do their jobs and that under her organization, any piece of information can be found at a moment’s notice.

Bowder treats the department’s approximately 120 students with courtesy, respect and a sincere effort to help resolve any issue, nominators wrote, and she provides “all sorts of expert assistance to faculty” and “will settle for nothing less than perfection.”

“Each day she arrives to work she is always very pleasant, energized and ready for the day’s activities.”
